Basha made a statement Friday night, putting together a dominant first half to defeat Westwood 48-7 in a 6A Southern region matchup. The Bears controlled the game early, building a commanding lead before halftime and earning their fourth win of the season.

Basha came out firing in the opening quarter, scoring 21 points while holding Westwood scoreless. The Bears continued their offensive momentum in the second quarter, adding another 20 points to take a 41-0 lead into the locker room.

With a comfortable advantage, Basha maintained control throughout the second half. Westwood managed to get on the scoreboard in the third quarter, avoiding the shutout, but the Bears answered with another touchdown in the fourth to close out the 48-7 victory.

The win improved Basha to 4-2 overall and 2-0 in region play, according to the game’s final result and the teams’ schedules. For the Bears, the performance showcased their ability to establish control early and put an opponent in a difficult position heading into halftime.

For Westwood, the loss dropped the Warriors to 3-4 overall and 0-2 in region play. Despite the difficult result, Westwood will have an opportunity to regroup and respond as the season continues.

What’s Next for Basha?

Basha will look to carry its momentum into next week’s matchup against Mesa on Friday, October 16. The Bears will aim to continue building their region record and strengthen their position as the season moves toward its final stretch.

Following the Mesa matchup, Basha is scheduled to face Brophy College Preparatory on October 23. Maintaining its offensive production while continuing to execute defensively will be important as the Bears prepare for the challenges ahead.

What’s Next for Westwood?

Westwood will look to bounce back when it takes on Perry on Friday, October 16. After falling behind early against Basha, the Warriors will need to find a way to start faster and put together a more consistent performance on both sides of the ball.

The Warriors are scheduled to face Mesa on October 23 after the Perry matchup. With the regular season moving forward, Westwood will look to use the remaining games to improve its region standing and build momentum.

Both programs now turn their attention to next week, with Basha looking to extend its winning momentum and Westwood seeking a response after a challenging night in Chandler.
