Corona Del Sol continued its strong start to the 2026 season Friday night, dominating Cactus Canyon from start to finish in a 59-0 road victory.

The Aztecs improved to 3-1 on the season, bouncing back from their 33-23 loss to Williams Field with a dominant performance on both sides of the ball.

Corona wasted little time getting its offense going. Josiah Smith scored two touchdowns, while Trevyen Shuman returned two punts for touchdowns, giving the Aztecs another major contribution from special teams.

Quarterback Luke Farrell also played a major role, accounting for three total touchdowns, with two passing touchdowns and one rushing touchdown.

Corona took a commanding 45-0 lead into halftime, but the defense continued to control the game throughout the second half.

Rowan Burd added a pick-six, giving Corona another defensive touchdown and continuing what has been one of the team’s biggest strengths this season.

Through four games, Corona Del Sol has scored 190 points while allowing just 33. All 33 points allowed came against Williams Field, while the Aztecs have recorded three shutouts against Valley Vista, Mojave and Cactus Canyon.

After another dominant performance, Smith said the team is focused on continuing to build momentum throughout the season.

“Looking forward to dominating week by week.”

That mindset will be tested as Corona enters the next stretch of its schedule.

The Aztecs return home Friday, Sept. 25, to face Boulder Creek at 7 p.m. They will then travel to face ALA Queen Creek on Oct. 2, followed by a road matchup against Desert Ridge on Oct. 15.

Corona will close out the regular season with Queen Creek on Oct. 23, Casteel on Oct. 30 and Desert Vista on Nov. 6.

With the second half of the season approaching, Farrell said the team’s focus is on finishing the regular season strong.

“The biggest goal in the back half of the season is to win the rest of our games. We want to finish strong and win out.”

— Luke Farrell

With 190 points scored, just 33 allowed and three shutouts, Corona Del Sol has established a clear identity through the first four games of the season. Now, the Aztecs will look to carry that momentum into the final stretch of the regular season.
