Corona Del Sol is off to a statement making start to the 2026 season.

After opening the season with a dominant 58–0 victory over Valley Vista, the Aztecs traveled to Nevada on Friday night and delivered another shutout, defeating the Mojave Rattlers 50–0.

From the opening whistle, Corona’s defense controlled the game. The Aztecs played physically throughout the night, making it difficult for Mojave to generate any consistent offense and keeping the Rattlers off the scoreboard for all four quarters.

The offense was just as impressive early.

Quarterback Luke Farrell helped lead the Aztecs to a 36–0 halftime advantage, throwing four touchdown passes in the first half. Josiah Smith had 3 of those touchdowns and Riddik Jerdee had 1. Running back Cortez Young also found the end zone, scoring the first touchdown of the game and helping Corona establish control early.

The dominance continued coming out of halftime.

Farrell connected with Keegan Pederson for another touchdown early in the third quarter, pushing the score to 43–0. With the running clock already in effect since the second quarter, Corona continued to play with the same physicality on defense and carried its 43–0 advantage into the fourth.

The final touchdown of the night came in the fourth quarter.

Starting around its own 30 yard line, Corona moved the ball downfield as Farrell connected with Hayan Hodges on a 20 plus yard completion that brought the Aztecs all the way down to the 1 yard line. Tristan Richey finished the drive with a touchdown run, putting Corona ahead 50–0.

The final whistle brought another shutout for the Aztecs and capped off back to back dominant performances to begin the season. Corona has now outscored its first two opponents 108–0, showing that the Aztecs can control games on both sides of the football.

Now, the competition gets tougher.

Corona Del Sol returns home next Friday, September 11, to take on Williams Field at 7:00 PM. The Black Hawks will provide the Aztecs with their next test as Corona looks to carry its momentum from the first two weeks into another big matchup.

Two games. Two shutouts. 108 points scored.

The Aztecs have made their presence known early. Next week, they get their chance to prove it against Williams Field.
